bet365 at a glance: who it suits

bet365 began in Stoke-on-Trent in 2000 and has grown into one of the largest online bookmakers in the world while remaining a private, family-owned business. Its reputation rests on the sportsbook, and above all on in-play betting: prices move while the match is running, a large number of events can be streamed to eligible customers, and most of the betting tools are built around following games live. A casino, a live casino and a poker room share the same account.

This review is written for readers in regulated markets such as Great Britain, Ireland, Germany and Ontario, where bet365 holds local licences. It suits bettors who value depth: many sports, many markets per event and quick live pricing. It suits people who want a calm, minimal interface less well. Our assessment draws on licence registers, the operator's published feature pages and app store listings. We have not opened an account or placed bets.

Our rating

9.1/ 10

Excellent: 9.1 / 10. Every operator is rated on the same five criteria and weights. The overall score is the weighted mean, rounded to one decimal. Read the method.

  • Trust & licensing30 %9.3Strict licences in Britain, Germany and Ontario plus more than 25 years of trading; a modest 2024 UKGC settlement over money-laundering and customer-interaction checks keeps it just off the top.
  • Betting markets / games range25 %9.5One of the broadest sportsbooks available, with an exceptional in-play section and streaming, plus casino, live casino and poker.
  • Website & apps15 %9.1The UK sports app averages about 4.7 from more than 450,000 App Store ratings; the dense, market-heavy layout takes time to learn.
  • Payments15 %8.6Mainstream UK methods such as debit cards, PayPal and Apple Pay, but options differ by country and little is published outside the cashier.
  • Support & safer gambling15 %8.5A structured help site and a standard set of safer gambling tools, but contact channels and opening hours are not clearly published.

Licensing and trust

In Great Britain, bet365 trades through two Malta-registered companies. Hillside (UK Sports) ENC holds the betting licence under UK Gambling Commission account 55148, and Hillside (UK Gaming) ENC holds the remote casino licence under account 55149. Both were shown as active when we checked the register in October 2026. The apps are published by Hillside (Technology) Limited, whose head office is in Stoke-on-Trent.

Elsewhere, Hillside (Europe) ENC appears on the GGL whitelist for bet365.de with a German sports betting permit first granted in October 2020 and a separate permit for virtual slot games added in May 2025. In Canada the brand is part of Ontario's regulated iGaming market through Hillside (International Sports) ENC, and a dedicated US app serves the states in which bet365 is licensed.

The record is not spotless. In April 2024 the two British licence holders agreed to pay a combined £582,120 in a regulatory settlement with the UKGC after a compliance assessment found that customer interactions were often generic and that some anti-money-laundering checks, including sanctions screening before a first deposit, were not robust enough. The Commission said the failings may not have been as severe as those at some other operators, and the amount is small by UK standards, but it belongs in any honest trust assessment.

Sportsbook and odds

Breadth is the main argument for bet365. Football, horse racing and tennis get the most detailed treatment, but the menu stretches well beyond the obvious into golf, darts, snooker, boxing, basketball and plenty more, with pre-match and in-play markets for each. A major football fixture carries so many markets that the built-in tabs and search become essential rather than optional.

Live betting is where the product is strongest. While a game is running you get Match Live graphics and statistics, and Bet Track pins your open bets to the screen as you move around the site. If you meet bet365's streaming conditions, many of the events can also be watched on a phone, tablet or computer. What is actually shown depends on broadcast rights in your country.

Bet Builder+ turns several picks from the same event into one bet, Cash Out appears on a wide range of markets, and there are smaller conveniences such as personalised alerts, a golf tracker for the main tours and a calculator for working out returns. We do not score odds against rivals, because prices change constantly and we have not run a structured price comparison. If margins matter to you, compare prices on the events you actually bet on.

Casino and live casino

On the gaming side you will find slots (among them bet365's in-house Originals), jackpot titles, table games, live dealer tables and poker. In the UK, casino games also have their own app next to the sports app. The selection is shaped by local rules: in Germany, for example, bet365's federal permits cover sports betting and virtual slot games, not live dealer tables.

For a sports-first customer this is a useful extra rather than the headline. Players who care mainly about casino games will find more specialised libraries at casino-focused brands, but having sport, casino and poker behind one login and one cashier keeps things simple.

Website and mobile apps

The main bet365 sports app, published by Hillside (Technology) Limited, averaged about 4.7 out of 5 from more than 450,000 ratings on the UK App Store when we checked in October 2026, an unusually large sample. It carries the full sportsbook, streaming, Bet Builder+ and Bet Track, and supports Face ID login on compatible iPhones. The separate bet365 Casino app averaged around 4.5.

The design favours speed and density over visual calm. Menus are compact, markets are stacked tightly and a lot happens on screen at once, which regular bettors tend to like and newcomers can find overwhelming. The mobile website closely mirrors the app, so installing anything is optional.

Deposits and withdrawals

For UK customers, the app listing names debit cards, PayPal and Apple Pay among the available methods. Gambling on a credit card has been banned in Great Britain since 2020, so British card payments must be debit. Other countries see a local mix of cards, bank transfers and e-wallets in the cashier.

bet365 does not publish one international list of methods, limits and processing times, so what you can use depends on your country and sometimes on how you deposited. Identity verification is standard at licensed operators and may be requested before a withdrawal is paid. We rate payments as good rather than outstanding mainly because so little is documented publicly.

Welcome offers and promotions

bet365 usually runs an introductory offer for new sports customers, and sometimes a separate one for casino, but the type of offer, the qualifying conditions and even whether an offer exists at all depend on your country. Read the full terms on your local site before opting in.

Existing customers typically see promotions linked to particular sports or events. Treat any offer as a small extra rather than a reason to bet more than planned, and check minimum odds, time limits and stake restrictions first.

Customer support

The bet365 help site is the starting point for questions, split into topics such as your account, payments in and out, betting rules, technical issues and how to make a complaint. Which contact routes you are offered depends on the country version you use, so go to the help pages for your own market.

We could not confirm published opening hours or a complete list of contact channels from public pages, which is why this category scores below the sportsbook. In Great Britain, complaints that cannot be settled with the operator can be taken to an independent alternative dispute resolution provider, as with every UKGC licensee.

Safer gambling tools

From the account area you can set deposit limits, switch on reality checks that remind you how long you have been playing, take a time-out or self-exclude. British customers are also covered by GAMSTOP, the national self-exclusion scheme every online UKGC licensee must support, and German customers by the national OASIS blocking system and the cross-operator LUGAS deposit limit that apply to all GGL licensees.

These tools match what a well-regulated operator should offer rather than going beyond it. They work best when set before you start, not after a losing session. If gambling stops feeling like entertainment, organisations such as GamCare, BeGambleAware and Gambling Therapy offer free, confidential help.

Our verdict on bet365

bet365 remains the reference point for sports bettors who want breadth and live action. Its mix of market depth, fast in-play pricing, streaming and useful extras like Bet Builder+ and Bet Track is hard to match, and it operates under licences from some of the strictest regulators.

Its weaknesses come with its scale: a busy interface, products that differ from country to country, thin public detail on support and payments, and a 2024 UKGC settlement showing that large operators also get checks wrong. If bet365 is licensed where you live and you mainly bet on sport, it deserves a place on your shortlist. Set your limits before you start.
