1xBet at a glance: who it suits

1xBet is one of the largest online bookmakers by volume of events and markets. The brand dates back to 2007, is legally headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, and runs the international site 1xbet.com under a Curaçao licence, alongside a network of country sites that local partner companies operate under national licences, for example in Nigeria. Next to the sportsbook it offers a large casino, live dealer tables, its own instant games, poker, bingo and toto pools.

It is a site for experienced bettors who want unusual depth: lower leagues, niche sports, esports and a very long list of markets per match. It is a poor fit for anyone who values strong regulation above all, and it is not an option at all in the UK, the US, France, Spain and many other regulated markets. This review sets out where 1xBet is strong, where the risks lie and what to check before opening an account.

Our rating

7.5/ 10

Good: 7.5 / 10. Every operator is rated on the same five criteria and weights. The overall score is the weighted mean, rounded to one decimal. Read the method.

  • Trust & licensing30 %6.2Offshore Curaçao licence for the main site, a bankrupt former group company and repeated regulatory and press scrutiny; locally licensed country sites help but do not offset this.
  • Betting markets / games range25 %9.3Few operators list more sports, leagues and markets, and the casino side is just as large.
  • Website & apps15 %7.4Fast and complete on desktop and mobile, but the pages are crowded and the Android app is usually installed from the website.
  • Payments15 %8.3An unusually broad cashier with low minimums, held back by recurring complaints about verification-related withdrawal delays.
  • Support & safer gambling15 %6.6Round-the-clock multilingual support, but self-service safer gambling tools are thinner and less consistent than at strictly regulated operators.

Licensing and trust

The international site 1xbet.com operates under a gaming licence from Curaçao. Curaçao has been reforming its licensing system, but it remains a lighter-touch jurisdiction than the UK, Malta, Sweden or Ontario: there is no comparable framework of mandatory player-protection tools, and no independent dispute service with the reach of those regulators. The company named as licensee for 1xbet.com has changed over the years, which makes it harder for a customer to know exactly which legal entity they are dealing with.

Where a locally licensed country site exists, it is the better choice. In Nigeria, for instance, Beauforbet Nigeria Limited runs 1XBET.NG and appears on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority's list of licensed operators for online sports betting and online casino, with a licence running to August 2027. The brand says it holds local licences in more than 35 markets; customers in those countries are covered by their own regulator rather than by Curaçao.

The track record weighs on our trust score. 1xBet stopped serving British customers in 2019 after a Sunday Times investigation into its marketing. A Curaçao group company, 1xCorp N.V., was declared bankrupt in 2022 in a dispute over unpaid player winnings, and the Dutch Supreme Court confirmed that bankruptcy in January 2023; 1xBet has said the company does not own the brand and that its licence was unaffected. Investigative outlet Follow the Money reported in 2023 that 1xBet-linked web addresses appear on regulators' blacklists more often than those of any other operator it examined, and in October 2024 Bellingcat and Josimar published allegations that the brand streamed and took bets on large numbers of staged amateur matches. 1xBet remains a large, active business with major sponsorships, including a partnership with FC Barcelona renewed in 2024 until June 2029, but these points place it firmly in our offshore band.

Sportsbook and odds

Range is the main argument for 1xBet. Football coverage reaches far below the top divisions into regional and youth competitions, and the same pattern holds for tennis, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, cricket and ice hockey. Esports has its own section, and there are virtual sports, toto pools and specials on non-sporting events. Popular matches can carry hundreds of markets, from match result, handicaps and totals to corners, cards and player-level bets.

Bet types go beyond singles and accumulators to system bets and the brand's own chained and conditional bets. An early-settlement feature lets you close many open bets before the event ends at a price the site offers. Odds can be displayed in several formats, including decimal, fractional and American.

The live section is equally broad, with match trackers and statistics for events in progress and streams for selected events depending on country and account status. Margins on major football leagues are generally in line with the market, while very obscure fixtures carry wider margins, as they do with most bookmakers. Given the investigative reports about staged amateur matches, we would treat thin, unfamiliar fixtures with particular caution.

Casino and live casino

The casino is large: slots from a long list of studios, table games, jackpots and a live casino with roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows from several providers. Filters by provider and game type, plus a search box, keep the lobby usable despite its size.

1xBet also runs in-house sections. 1xGames collects quick instant games such as dice, crash-style and card formats, and there are TV games, scratch cards, lotto, bingo and poker. Because the international site is licensed in Curaçao, rules on independent game testing and on publishing return-to-player figures are less strict than under UK or Maltese regulation, so check the information shown inside each game.

Website and mobile apps

The website loads quickly and covers everything in one place, but it is busy. Menus, banners and long market lists compete for space, and newcomers will need some time before the layout feels natural. Settings for odds format, language and time zone help, and many languages are supported.

1xBet offers apps for Android and iOS as well as a mobile website. In many countries the Android app is installed from the 1xBet website rather than from Google Play, which means allowing installation from outside the store; the iOS app is listed in the App Store only where local rules permit. Download apps only via the site for your country or an official app store, never from third-party links.

Deposits and withdrawals

The cashier is one of the broadest you will find. Depending on the country it can include bank cards, bank transfers, e-wallets, prepaid vouchers, mobile money in many African markets and a wide range of cryptocurrencies. Minimum deposits are low, and deposits are usually credited straight away. The exact list of methods, limits and fees depends on your country and currency and is shown in the cashier.

Withdrawals go back to a method in your own name, and identity verification is required. Delays linked to verification requests are the most common theme in public complaints about the brand. The practical advice is simple: complete verification with valid documents straight after registering, before you deposit a meaningful amount, and keep records of your transactions.

Welcome offers and promotions

1xBet usually runs a welcome offer for new sports customers and a separate casino welcome offer, plus a changing promotions area with accumulator boosts, cashback, tournaments and a loyalty scheme. Offers, eligibility and terms differ by country and change often, so we do not quote amounts.

Bonuses at this operator have historically come with wagering conditions, minimum odds and time limits. Opting in is optional; read the current terms on the operator's site first, and do not let a promotion change the budget you set for yourself.

Customer support

Support is offered around the clock in many languages, typically through live chat and email, with additional contact options listed on the contacts page for each country. A help section covers betting rules, bonus terms and payment questions.

Simple questions tend to be handled quickly. More complex cases, such as verification or withdrawal disputes, can take longer, and on the international site there is no strong independent dispute body to turn to. That gap is a further reason to use a locally licensed site where one is available.

Safer gambling tools

1xBet does not accept customers under 18, and age is confirmed during identity verification. The site publishes responsible gambling information, and self-exclusion or account closure can be requested through support.

Self-service tools such as deposit, loss and session limits are less consistent than at operators licensed in the UK or the EU, and availability varies between country sites. If you play here, set your own budget before you start, take breaks and never chase losses. Free and confidential help is available from Gambling Therapy and the organisations listed on our responsible gambling page.

1xBet FAQ

Is 1xBet licensed?

The international site 1xbet.com operates under a Curaçao licence. In some countries, local partner companies run 1xBet sites under national licences, for example Beauforbet Nigeria Limited, which is licensed by the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority until August 2027.

Is 1xBet available in the UK or the US?

No. 1xBet left the British market in 2019 and does not hold licences in the United States. It is also unavailable in France, Spain and many other regulated markets. Do not try to get around a country block.

Is 1xBet safe to use?

It is a large, long-running operator, but the international site has an offshore licence and the brand has a contested legal and regulatory history. If you use it, prefer a locally licensed country site, verify your account early and start with small amounts.

Does 1xBet have an app?

Yes. There are Android and iOS apps plus a mobile website. The Android app is often installed from the 1xBet website rather than Google Play, so only download it via the 1xBet site for your country or an official app store.

Which payment methods does 1xBet accept?

Depending on the country: cards, bank transfers, e-wallets, vouchers, mobile money and many cryptocurrencies. The cashier shows the methods, limits and fees that apply to you.

What is the minimum age?

18, or higher where local law requires it. Age is confirmed during identity verification.

Our verdict on 1xBet

Measured purely on choice, 1xBet is hard to beat: a vast sportsbook, a very large live section, a big casino and a cashier that accepts almost every common payment type. For experienced bettors in countries where it is legally available, that range is a real draw.

The risks are real as well. The international site relies on a Curaçao licence, a former group company went bankrupt over unpaid winnings, and the brand has drawn sustained scrutiny from regulators and journalists. That is why its trust score sits at the lower end of our offshore band. If you choose 1xBet, use a locally licensed country site where possible, verify your identity before depositing and keep stakes modest.
