Betway at a glance: who it suits

Betway has been online since 2006. Its parent, Super Group (SGHC) Limited, trades on the New York Stock Exchange and also owns casino brands such as Jackpot City and Spin Casino. In Great Britain and Germany the site is operated by Betway Limited from Gzira in Malta. The brand combines a mainstream sportsbook, including esports, with a casino and live casino that are large enough to stand on their own.

Betway suits customers who want both sport and casino from one provider and value familiar, well-tested features such as live streaming, Bet Builder and partial cash out. Serious bettors chasing very deep or niche markets may find more elsewhere. Our assessment is based on licence registers, Super Group's corporate pages, the German site and app store listings; we did not open an account or bet with real money.

Licensing and trust

The British licence sits with Betway Limited under UK Gambling Commission account 39372, which covers remote casino and betting and was shown as active when we checked in October 2026. The same account covers sister brands, including Jackpot City and Spin Casino, under separate trading names. In Germany, Betway Limited is on the GGL whitelist for sports betting on betway.de, with a further permit for virtual slot games added on 2 October 2026. Betway is also part of Ontario's regulated market.

Being part of a NYSE-listed group brings regular financial reporting and public scrutiny. In its second-quarter 2026 results Super Group reported revenue up 18% to $684m and raised its full-year outlook, so the parent does not appear to be under financial strain. Super Group has also been narrowing its footprint: Betway gave up its Portuguese licence in January 2026, and the group has withdrawn from the US, closing its sportsbook there first and announcing the end of its New Jersey and Pennsylvania casino operations in July 2025, to concentrate on markets it sees as more profitable, particularly in Africa. Exits like these are business decisions rather than regulatory failures, but they show that availability can change.

The most serious item on the record is older. In March 2020 Betway agreed an £11.6m settlement with the UKGC after an investigation into seven mostly VIP customers found weak anti-money-laundering controls and poor handling of problem gambling indicators between 2014 and 2019. We have not found later UKGC enforcement against Betway Limited, but the case explains why this trust score is not higher.

Sportsbook and odds

The UK app lists more than 30 sports, from football, horse racing, tennis and cricket to basketball, golf, boxing, darts and Formula 1. Esports are a genuine strength: Dota 2, League of Legends and Counter-Strike all have their own markets, something not every mainstream bookmaker does well.

Live betting comes with odds that update in real time, and many events can be watched in the app or on the site. Bet Builder combines several selections from one event, and both full and partial cash out are offered, so you can settle all or part of a bet before the result is final when the feature is available.

Coverage of lower leagues and niche markets is decent rather than exceptional, and Betway does not have the sheer market count of the largest sportsbooks. Pricing is not scored, because we have not compared Betway's odds systematically with other bookmakers. Betway also offers a separate Scores app with match statistics, which is useful for following games without being inside a betting product.

Casino and live casino

The casino is where Betway is stronger than many sports-first brands. Beyond slots and progressive jackpots, the UK casino app carries roulette, baccarat and blackjack, plus less common extras such as Slingo, bingo, video poker and instant-win titles. Live dealers host the familiar tables as well as game-show formats.

The exact list depends on the country. In Germany, only licensed virtual slot games are permitted under the federal regime, and Betway's permit for them is brand new, so the German offer may still be evolving. If casino games are your priority, check what your local site actually offers before signing up.

Website and mobile apps

In the UK, Betway publishes two separate iOS apps: the sports app was rated about 4.7 out of 5 across more than 46,000 ratings and the casino app about 4.7 from around 14,000 ratings when we checked in October 2026. On the German site, both an Android and an iPhone version are offered.

The split keeps each app focused, but if you use both sport and casino you will be switching between two apps on your phone. The website brings everything together and works on mobile browsers, so the apps are a convenience rather than a requirement. Regular bettors may prefer the apps for speed, while occasional users lose little by sticking to the browser.

Deposits and withdrawals

Payment options depend on the country. German customers can pay by card, Klarna, PayPal or Trustly, through Skrill, Neteller or Paysafe, or by online banking, a broad mix that covers most preferences. UK customers can use debit cards and other locally available methods; credit cards are banned for gambling in Great Britain.

We could not verify a full UK list of methods, limits or processing times from public pages, so check the cashier on your local site. As with every licensed operator, expect identity verification before withdrawals and use payment methods registered in your own name. Many licensed operators also send withdrawals back to the method you deposited with where possible, so it makes sense to deposit with the method you would like to be paid to.

Welcome offers and promotions

Betway usually runs separate introductory offers for sports and casino customers, but the details are set country by country and can change at short notice. Some markets restrict bonuses heavily, and the terms will include conditions such as minimum odds, expiry dates or wagering requirements.

Ongoing promotions tend to follow the sporting calendar and new casino releases. Treat them as optional extras, read the terms in full, and never deposit more than you planned just to qualify.

Customer support

Super Group says logged-in Betway customers can open a live chat from their account, and the German site advertises round-the-clock contact. Every country site also carries its own help and contact pages.

Beyond that, public detail is limited: we could not confirm phone support, published opening hours or the languages offered in each market. If a complaint cannot be settled with Betway directly, British customers can take it to an independent alternative dispute resolution service, which every UKGC licensee must offer. Support is nevertheless the lowest of Betway's five scores, not because of known problems but because there is less verifiable information than for the best-documented operators.

Safer gambling tools

Betway's built-in tools, according to Super Group, cover deposit limits, reality checks, breaks from play and self-exclusion. German accounts are checked against OASIS, the national exclusion register, and LUGAS, which tracks deposits across all licensed operators, while British customers can also register with GAMSTOP, which every online UKGC licensee must support.
